This two-faced vinyl mat made of 100% recycled content has both a textured side for more thin and delicate wet felting as well as a ridged surface for fulling more aggressively. It is not recommended to scrub against the mat like a wash board as this pills the felt surface, but rather to be used for friction/vibration when rolling/moving the felt as compared to the slickness of a flat surface. The size mat offered by STRONGFELT is determined by the interior measures of an average cookie sheet or low lipped tray used to contain the felting water. Depending on the size of your tray or need, you can easily cut down the mat with a blade and straight edge for a secure fit so the mat doesn’t move around within the tray.
