Wool fiber, felt encased cork, cotton thread, ; wet felted, free-motion machine stitched
Inspired by inheriting my family’s stoneware crocks and using machine stitching like a tractor to map the family’s original homestead property, rows of cultivated fields and my grandmother’s writing. The base and top rim of the cylinder are marked by the Champion saw blade pattern used to clear cut the trees from the land.
