STRONGFELT rings are a renewed exploit! Soldered linear shapes of 12 gauge sterling silver wire are loosely wrapped in wool fibers, which are then felted taut to create a trampoline of felt suspended between the wire, allowing for the application of detailed free-motion embroidery. I made rings when I first began felting back around 2001, but they were much chunkier and with the felt being around the finger, they got dirty and greasy quickly with the activity of ones hands. Raising the felt off the skin is the answer and eventually getting myself set up with a torch to continue soldering.
