STRONGFELT Vessels define and hold space. These works of felt, though not water tight, draw from wool’s capacity to hold nearly 30% its weight in moisture without feeling wet as a metaphor for holding back an external display of emotions and the body’s storage of experiences of the sympathetic nervous system in its tissues. Instigated by social stratification, familial separation and secrecy, works reference containment, security and preservation as well as fracture and erosion.
